11月29日 Best Line of the Debate goes to...Mitt Romney:
"Like most Americans, we love our sports teams, and we hate the Yankees."
Nice!
I'm still not voting for you. 11月27日 Charlotte Martin and Zune SocialCelebrated my 30th Birthday this weekend. The gang came over and played ROCK BAND until 5 in the morning. I'm sure our neighbors loved us. Also, work is kicking my butt, so it may be a few more days before a longer post.
So, in the meantime, I want to introduce you to 2 things.
1: A new artist I am very much enjoying named Charlotte Martin. Here's a video. Kinda has a Tori Amos sound without all the femanist hoopla (which is fine, but irritating after my wife has played it 8000 times). My current favorite song by Charlotte is called "Cut the Chord." There isn't a video for it (there are come crappy bootlegs on YouTube) but you can find the song online.
2nd is the Zune Social. Zune has taken a page from Xbox Live and given you a space to show off what you're listening to. Now, it's in Beta and still needs a lot of work, but it's a kick ass start. You can see what your friends are listening to on their players, listen to a sample, and buy the song right there, if you like. Check mine out, here: http://social.zune.net/member/Satchmo+Baggins
11月21日 How do we beat the bitch?Okay...who hasn't seen this on the news, yet? Cause it seems to be getting a lot more press than it needs to. It seems to have pissed a lot of people off.
The clip is pasted below. Basically, at a campaign stop, a supporter asked Senator McCain, "How do we beat the bitch?" Obviously...she was talking about Hillary Clinton.
So...the hub-bub seems to be around, "What should McCain have done differently?" My answer is, "Nothing."
The only thing I can think of, and this is only in the sense of being Politically Correct, which I never encourage anyone to do, unless they're running for President, would be to give the Respect comment before saying "That's an excellent question."
Here are my problems with this whole issue.
1) McCain didn't call Hillary a bitch. An American Citizen with a right to Free Speech did.
2) People keep saying he should have rebuked her. Bull. McCain prides himself on his Straight Talk. If a supporter wants to talk straight, he should let them. Again, he didn't make the comment.
3) What's all the fuss about the "B-word?" Who cares? I use it all the time. I call my cat a bitch. I call my friends bitches. Called my wife a bitch once. Took a week for the black eye to heal. Heck...I've even called myself a bitch. It was meant as a joke, not as a sexist insult. Besides...the question came from a woman.
4) From everything I have been reading lately about Hillary...it appears that she may actually be a legitimate bitch.
It's like we're switching from the Race card to the Sex card. It's also like there is nothing else worthy of reporting, so let's report on a cell phone recording of a woman calling Hillary "The B-Word." Then, CNN and Newsweek quickly grab their microphones and pens and start talking about how offensive and inappropriate is was for John McCain to...um...not properly scold the woman...or something. Cause, there was really a whole lot he could have done.
To top this all off, you can see Senator McCain is clearly uncomfortable about this question. He knows exactly what it's going to cause. And, he was right. He wants to "offer the translation." Basically, I see that as him saying, "Can I rephrase that question so I don' get in trouble?" But, wait, Jason...he did say it's an excellent question. So, what...if you substitute Bitch for Clinton, it is an excellent question. What is his strategy for beating the Democrat frontrunner?
So...the message of this post...Get the hell over it. This is so not worthy of all the fuss. McCain is a great American. He is a great Presidential candidate and he will be an excellent President. Much better than the rest of these clowns.
Let stop talking about who is least PC and start talking about more important things. Like, How DO we beat the bitch?"
Let's finish it off with a Haiku.
I'm meeting McCain!
Need to ask a GREAT question!
This will make him Laugh!
11月11日 Jason's Movie Review: DOA: Dead or AliveSo…I just finished watching DOA: Dead or Alive. This is one of the greatest movies I have seen in my life starring one of the Greatest Actors EVER: Eric Roberts!
Seriously, though…while American Beauty it is not…DOA was actually not bad. If you’re interested in watching it, you need to go in with the sole intention of having fun. Because, if you’re looking for a great script, great acting or stellar fight scenes, this isn’t the place to be. I mean, it is based on a video game, after all.
If you’re looking for Hot chicks duking it out in bikinis while trying to foil the plans of a villain played by the greatest actor EVER, Eric Roberts, this is the movie for you.
DOA was rather enjoyable with all this in mind. I don’t think it was designed or marketed as an Oscar winner. It’s full of babes kicking ass and playing volleyball. Jamie Pressley is hot. And, just like in the game, Christie is smokin’. Top this off with the superb thespian talents of the greatest actor EVER, Eric Roberts, and, you have the perfect movie to watch on a plane ride to Chicago while sitting next to a woman who obviously thinks you’re some kind of chauvinistic pig to be watching this movie in public. (Did I mention that I finished the movie while on a plane to Chicago while sitting next to a woman that obviously thinks I’m some kind of chauvinistic pig for watching this movie in public?
Did I mention that DOA has hot chicks kicking ass in bikinis? Did I mention that Eric Roberts SUCKS?
11月7日 WA voters are clearly tired of all the taxingJust about every anti-tax issue on the ballot this year appears to be passing, at this point.
The Roads and Transit (RAT) tax is failing miserably.
Voters want to keep the 2/3 vote to raise taxes in general.
and...
Voters want to keep the super majority to raise taxes for schools.
What does all this mean? Does it mean that we love congestion and hate children? I don't think so. I think it means that we are tired of a bunch of incompetent boobs continually asking us to give more and give more and give more, but not see any results. The Roads and Transit initiative would take 50 years to complete. And, in the interim, traffic would still be awful. The schools are always asking for more money to pay teachers more and to shrink class sizes. But, each time they are given more money by the tax payers, the schools fail to perform to expectations.
I am going to quickly turn this into a stump speech for Dino Rossi, I think.
Washington needs change in a big way. A BIG way. Olympia has been more of the same since 1980...long before I even got here. I have never known a fiscally conservative Washington State. We have a Democrat Governor, a strong Democrat majority Legislature, and a very Liberally leaning Court. A one party monopoly is ALWAYS bad. Washingtonians realized this when it came to the Federal Government. When all 3 branches were controlled by Republicans at the Federal level, Washington State worked to get more Dems in Federal office. Why can't they see the problem is exactly the same at the State level? Particularly in the Puget Sound region, which is over half of the population of the State, there is such a hatred of Republicans (thanks to our wonderful President) that they don't care who is running. If there is an R after their name, forget it.
In the last 4 years since Governor Gregoire took over, taxes have skyrocketed even higher than the insane amounts they were at before (don't let the fact that we have no income tax fool you...our property taxes are ridiculous), our schools have had even more money thrown at them only to produce even worse results, initiatives passed by the people in election were disregarded by the legislature who went ahead and passed their own version of the same thing (gas tax), and...traffic still sucks and the Alaskan Way Viaduct and 520 are still crumbling. More of the same.
We have 2 years to go. I am not saying that we need a flush of everything. But, we do need a strong change. It's been over 20 years since there has been a Republican governor in Olympia. Christine Gregoire is a 32 year bureaucrat. It's time for her to go. It's time for someone to come in and say, "This is dumb, this is dumb, and this is dumb. Stop doing them." It's time for Washingtonians to realize that not every Republican is George W. Bush.
The election results aren't due to low voter turnout, like many people will try to make you believe. It's because we're sick of spending more and not seeing results. The State gets enough money from the tax payers. Start making what you already get work, and then we'll think about giving you more.
ADDITION: Here is an example of what I am talking about regarding the Puget Sound region and any one with an R by his name.
As of 9:00 this morning:
King County prosecutor
Dan Satterberg is a clearly more experienced candidate, working for years under beloved King County proscuter, Norm Maleng. He has filled the post since Maleng's death and has even vowed to work to make the prosecutor position a NON-PARTISAN elected position.
Bill Scatterberg has never tried a murder case, has served most of his career is advisory positions to Democratic candidates, and is running on the platform of "I am a Democrat and Satterberg is a Republican." There is no reason why this particular runoff hasn't been decided already. AND...the margin should be much bigger. "Because I'm a Democrat" should never be a reason to elect someone.
11月1日 HalloweeniesEvery year, I get annoyed at Halloween. Why is that, Jason? Well...I'm going to tell you.
Halloween is one of two things. Either is A) a froofy little holiday where kids can dress up like scary little monsters and make grandma and grandpa oogle at how cute they are just before going out and mooching sweets off the neighbors a few nights after their parents got hammered at the house up the street...or B) it's a time for people to worship the devil and drink blood and stuff.
What Halloween in NOT, in my opinion, is a time for teenagers to act like idiots while spoiling the fun of the little ones.
So...after yet another year of getting pissed off at the 14 year olds who think it's okay to come to my house without a costume and stick their backpack in my face without even using the magic words...I now present: Jason's Rules for Trick-or-Treating:
Rule #1: You MUST be in a Costume: If you think that Halloween is simply a time to get free candy from the sucker in the townhome, you're nuts. If you don't have a costume, the only food you're getting from me is a knuckle sandwich.
Rule #2: No "Kids" over 13: Look...unless you are protecting your little sister, this is clearly an event that should be outgrown by the time you're a teenager. I'll let some 13 year olds slip because they are sheltered.
Rule #3: Keep your Damn Hands out of my Candy Bowl: I learned this early on. Never let kids help themselves. They'll take half your freakin' candy right away. Hands off, Tiny.
Rule #4: You must say the Magic Words: Even if you're one and a half and it sounds like, "Dicker eats." If you don't say some form of Trick or Treat, you don't get candy. You can cry about it later.
Rule #5: I Don't Open my Door After 8:30: Why? Simple...by 8:30, everybody following Rule #2 should be getting ready for bed cuz they have school the next day. And...I am now getting ready for bed.
Rule #6-new rule being added after this year: Do NOT Turn Your Back to me and Expect Me to Load Candy into Your Backpack: I mean, seriously, dude. Go get yourself a freakin' jack-o-lantern bucket or at least a Safeway Bag. If you're too good to hold a bag out and say Trick or Treat like the rest of the kids, I'm too good to give you any of my chocolaty goodness.
That's what I got, for now. I'm sure I am missing some, here. Feel free to add new ones in the comments. Maybe I'll even add them. |
